Terms of service
Effective
These terms govern your use of TurnItHuman (the "Service"). By creating an account or using the Service you agree to them. They are written in plain language; if anything is unclear, email us.

1. Acceptable use
You may use the Service only on text you have the right to edit and only for lawful purposes. You may not use the Service to complete, or to disguise the authorship of, work that must be your own under the rules of a school, employer, publisher, court or regulator, and you may not use it to produce content that deceives others about who wrote it where that matters to them.
2. No promise of third-party outcomes
The Service produces edited text and a detector estimate. We do not control Turnitin, GPTZero, Originality.ai, Copyleaks or any other detector; their models change without notice, and we make no promise that any text will receive any particular score or classification from any third party. Detector names in the app describe an estimate, not that vendor's verdict.
3. Your responsibility for policies
You are responsible for knowing and following the academic-integrity, disclosure and AI-use policies that apply to you. Some institutions require disclosure of AI assistance; the Service does not provide that disclosure for you. Tools that record how a document was typed are unaffected by the Service.
4. Accuracy and fidelity
The Service is designed to preserve numbers, names and citations and checks each output for added facts or sources; when a check fails you are warned. You remain responsible for verifying the final text.
5. Third-party processors
Your text is sent to the humanization provider and to our hosting provider (for the meaning-check embeddings), both named in the Privacy Policy, solely to perform the Service. We do not use your text to train models. Text is deleted on the schedule in the Privacy Policy or on your request, except where a provider retains it under its own policy as disclosed there.
6. Age
You must be at least 13 (or the age of digital consent in your country, whichever is higher) to use the Service.
7. Refunds and disputes
Refunds are as described in the Refund Policy: a full refund within 7 days of a charge if under 20 percent of that cycle's words have been used. Detector outcomes are never grounds for a refund. Disputed charges may lead to suspension until resolved.
8. Fair use of quotas
Word quotas are per billing cycle and do not roll over. Internal retries are not charged to you; "Humanize again" is. Automation against the free tier, credential sharing and reselling access are prohibited.
9. Suspension and termination
We may suspend or terminate accounts used to break the law, to deceive, to abuse the Service or to violate these terms, and we may decline to process content that breaks the Content Policy. You may delete your account at any time; deletion completes after a 7-day grace period.
10. Changes
We may change the pipeline, providers, presets and detector estimates at any time and will post current panel results and their date on the site. Material changes to these terms are notified by email 14 days in advance.
11. Developer API
API keys are personal to your account and you are responsible for their use. Rate limits and quotas apply per plan. We may revoke keys on plan changes or abuse.
12. Ownership
You own your input and the output produced for you. You grant us only the licence needed to process it and, if you opt in, to use it for internal quality evaluation.
13. Availability and liability
The Service is provided as is. Our aggregate liability is limited to the fees you paid in the 3 months before the claim, to the extent the law allows. We are not liable for academic, employment or legal consequences of how you use the output.
14. Governing law and disputes
These terms are governed by the laws of the jurisdiction where the operator of TurnItHuman is established, without regard to its conflict-of-law rules. Before bringing a claim, email us so we can try to resolve the dispute informally. Nothing in this clause removes consumer protections that the law of your country gives you and that cannot be waived by contract.
